CJ Clarke is an award winning filmmaker and photographer. He is the author of ‘Magic Party Place’ which has recently been shortlisted for the Aperture Paris Photo First Book Award 2016. Completed over the course of ten years, the book documents contemporary England, mapping the roots of Brexit in the process. ‘Magic Party Place’ is published by Kehrer Verlag.
His film ‘Mother & Daughter’ won the inaugural BJP/Canon Open Shutter Award. He also wrote and directed ‘It Shouldn’t Happen Here’ an advert to launch Save the Children’s UK poverty campaign.
In parallel, to ‘Magic Party Place’ CJ has worked on the photographic project ‘Loyalists’ about contemporary Northern Ireland. Part of the project was shown in the show ‘Playgrounds’ at the Belfast Exposed Gallery in 2010.
His work has been commended in the once in the Ian Parry Award, twice in the Observer Hodge Award, three times in the Magenta Flash Forward award.
